Yorkshire Attractions to Explore

Yorkshire Dales National ParkTour, walk or cycle through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with its rich flower meadows, stone walls and characterful villages with cosy Yorkshire pubs.

Harrogate – Treat yourself to relaxing afternoon at the Harrogate Turkish Baths or afternoon tea at Betty’s. Visit RHS Harlow Carr Garden for beautiful gardening ideas and gardening courses.

York – Take a day trip to historic York with its medieval Minster, museums and Shambles shopping street. Walk around the famous York Walls or take a boat trip down the River Ouse.

Ripon – Ripon is famous both for its cathedral and Ripon Races. The market, teashops and cosy pubs are also worth a visit and there is a very pleasant walk following in the steps of the monks from Ripon Cathedral to Fountains Abbey.

Fountains Abbey – Explore Fountains Abbey, a World Heritage Site set in 800 acres of beautiful countryside.

Brimham Rocks – Enjoy beautiful Nidderdale views as you walk or climb around the weird and ancient stones of Brimham Rocks.

Pateley Bridge –This charming Dales town boasts a regular sheep auction, its very own Nidderdale Museum, the Oldest Sweet Shop and a delightful riverside walk.

The Coldstones Cut – A monumental sculpture, which is an artistic response to the Coldstones Quarry, its industrial heritage and its relationship to the surrounding landscape. Walk the various winding paths and experience the extraordinary vistas which the platforms expose.

Great Walks including the Nidderdale Way – There are many beautiful walks locally including the full length or sections of the 53-mile circular Nidderdale Way

Horse riding at Bewerley Riding Centre, which has horse riding opportunities to suit all abilities

Flyfishing on the River Nidd around Pateley Bridge and Scar House Reservoir

How Stean Gorge – Find great outdoor activities at How Stean Gorge with gorge scrambling, abseiling, canoeing and caving. Test yourself on the unique Via Ferrata. Balance on the beam and ladder and traverse the gorge walls. One of only two such activities in the UK!

Cycle Route for ‘Le Tour’ – Drive or cycle sections of the famous 2014 Yorkshire Le Tour. Stage 1 winds through the delightful Yorkshire Dales from Leeds to Harrogate. Stage 2 rides through the dramatic Bronte Country from York to Sheffield.
